Much of the fun at Tokiwa-dō comes from selecting fillings at the display counter for its specialty, the koppepan. Slightly sweet with a pillowy, chewy crumb, these soft bread rolls can be filled with customer favorites like smooth red bean paste and margarine, strawberry jam, peanut spread, or kuromitsu kinako syrup and roasted soybean flour. You can also purchase them plain without fillings or check for rotating monthly toppings, tailoring each roll to your craving.
Beyond sweet rolls, the counter is stocked with satisfying savory items. Choices range from beef tendon curry bread with a crisp exterior to delicate cream buns filled with lightly sweetened custard, as well as an assortment of hearty sandwiches spanning savory and sweet selections.
Tokiwa-dō operates purely as a takeout shop without eat-in seating. It is open from 9:00 to 19:00, and is closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Payment can be made with credit cards, debit cards, or mobile services including PayPay, making it a handy neighborhood bakery for breakfast or lunch on the go.
